Greetings, humans! I am Alleppey! I am Fort Kochi’s self proclaimed resident café cat. I spend my days prowling between the best coffee and food spots in town, napping in sunny windowsills, and observing your peculiar two-legged behaviors. Today, I will share my insider knowledge of the most paw-some cafés this historic port city has to offer!

The Artsy Corner: Tamara, Kashi and Lila
Want to impress your Instagram followers? My artistic friends, head straight to Tamara, Kashi art café or Lila. While I enjoy knocking over paint brushes at both establishments, you will appreciate their stunning art galleries. Kashi offers delectable vegan options (though I am strictly carnivorous myself). Lila’s Wi-Fi keeps all you digital nomads purring with contentment. Tamara has the best food and coffee!

Beat the Heat at Trouvaillle
When my fur coat becomes too much in the Kerala heat, I slink over to Trouvaillle. Their air conditioning is heavenly, and the Wi-Fi never fails. It is perfect for you humans and your endless Doom (oops Zoom) calls. The staff occasionally shoos me away from laptop keyboards, but I forgive them because their coffee smells divine.

Eco-Warriors’ Paradise: Loving Earth
Even though I do not understand why anyone would choose plants over fish, my vegan human friends adore Loving Earth. Their sustainable approach to food seems to make you two-legged creatures happy. Their outdoor seating offers bird-watching opportunities (strictly for entertainment purposes). Occasionally you can also see a group of hoomans making funny cat like poses in what they call Yoga(?)

The Music Scene: Pandhal
Sometimes I like to practice my midnight vocals at Pandhal. They have actual musicians too, which you humans seem to prefer. The combination of art, music, and food makes it a cultural hotspot. I wish they would let me join in with the performers occasionally.
Quick Bites: French Toast and Canvas
When you are in a hurry (a concept I do not understand), both French Toast and Canvas offer coffee, satisfying pizzas, and french toasts. I particularly enjoy watching the breakfast crowd at French Toast. There are so many dropped crumbs to investigate! The wood fired pizzas at Canvas rate highly among fellow feline friends.

All these cafés are within easy prowling distance, even for you humans who lack our superior navigational abilities. They are scattered around the historic streets of Fort Kochi, from Princess Street to Parade Road. Just follow your nose (or Google Maps, since you cannot smell coffee from three blocks away like I can).

- Most cafés open around 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. This is perfect for early birds (my favorite!)
