Uncanny: The Quiet Rusty Sign brings together two artists employing rusted materials as symbolic indicators of temporal progression.
Sania Fathima presents a worn, distressed graduation gown made from rust-dyed muslin, layered with hand embroidery, sashiko stitches, and patchwork. Every surface tells of time passing—rust stains, mold-like textures echoing fading memories.
Arun S works with ash and rust on jute, representing endings, decay, and inevitability. His work reflects on senseless violence and loss caused by wars—emotions surging and subsiding like ashes slipping through fingers.
Together: two meditations on what time does to us, and what we carry forward.
