Vinod Sweets

A Konkani sweet shop on Town Hall Road.

A street-level view of two adjacent sweet shops under a shared corrugated roof. On the left, a shop entrance features a glass display counter on wheels, with a person seated inside near a water dispenser. A wooden table and two red plastic stools sit outside. On the right, another shop has shelves stocked with packaged goods and a refrigerated display case filled with items. A vertical sign stands between the two entrances, and several signs are mounted above the storefronts.

Vinod Sweets is a Konkani sweet and snack shop on Town Hall Road in Mattancherry. It sells sweets, fried snacks and north Indian items, and it serves tea and coffee.

Ask for the purnapoli. Visitors call it the shop’s standout sweet, a smaller and sweeter version of the bole. One visitor asked for less sugar in the coffee and found the balance right, and the coffee comes in a steel pot.

It opens at 8am and shuts at 8pm from Monday to Saturday, and at 4pm on Sundays. The shop also takes catering orders.
