Shantilal S Mithaiwala is a Gujarati sweet and snack shop on Gujarati Road in Mattancherry, a narrow street where parking is hard to find. It opens 8.30am to 9.30pm Monday to Saturday and 8.30am to 4pm on Sunday.
The counter sells dhokla, samosas, aloo bonda and thepla, alongside kalakand, kaju sweets and milk halwa. Visitors who tried the milk halwa and the samosa describe the halwa as moderately sweet and the samosa as crisp and not oily. Visitors also say the sweets are not overloaded with sugar, so the milk and cashews come through in the kalakand and kaju barfi. GST is added to the cost.
