Pazhayanur Bhagavathy Temple
A Bhagavathy shrine on Jew Town Road.
Pazhayannur Bhagavathy Temple is a small shrine in the central courtyard of Mattancherry Palace, the Dutch Palace, on Jew Town Road. Pazhayannur Bhagavathi is the royal deity.
You reach it through the palace grounds, not from the street. Visitors describe entering through an arch from the car park, then a barred gate that leads to the shrine annexe, with a second entrance beside the stairs of the palace museum. Devotees drop donations into a large hundi on the path to that gate.
Entry is for Hindus only, visitors say. The courtyard gets crowded, and in 2026 one visitor watched a ceremony there in which cocks and hens are released.
