ABC Artroom Venue, Watermetro
Hands-on art sessions at the Water Metro station itself.
ABC Art Room is a workshop room at the Fort Kochi Water Metro station, near Fort Kochi beach. It is run by the Art By Children programme of the Kochi Biennale Foundation, and it is open from 10am to 6pm every day. The station opened to the public on 21 April 2024 as part of the first phase of Kochi’s water metro.
The programme began with the Biennale. Blaise Joseph joined the festival team on 10 October 2018 to head it, two months before the fourth edition opened. Before that, he had set up art rooms for children after the 2018 floods, starting at Gothuruth by the Periyar river. The first Biennale art room opened on 15 December 2018 at Cabral Yard in Fort Kochi.
The rooms are staffed by trained teachers who work as facilitators with the children. The programme also brings in workshop leaders from within Kerala and abroad. In the 2025-26 edition, the Water Metro station was one of the new Fort Kochi venues for Art By Children.
